Female Fertility Evaluation

Female fertility evaluation is a multifaceted process designed to assess reproductive health and identify factors that might hinder conception or a healthy pregnancy.

Key Components of Female Fertility Evaluation

  1. Detailed Medical History:
    • Discussion of menstrual cycle regularity, past pregnancies, and any medical conditions such as PCOS, endometriosis, or thyroid disorders
  2. Physical Examination:
    • Pelvic examination to check for any abnormalities in the reproductive organs
  3. Ovulation Assessment:
    • Tests to determine whether ovulation is occurring regularly, including:
      • Hormone tests for FSH, LH, AMH, and progesterone
      • Ultrasound follicular monitoring
  4. Imaging Studies:
    • Pelvic Ultrasound: To evaluate the uterus, ovaries, and surrounding structures
    • Hysterosalpingography (HSG): To assess the fallopian tubes for blockages
    • Sonohysterography or Hysteroscopy: For a detailed view of the uterine cavity
  5. Hormonal Testing:
    • Evaluations of thyroid function, prolactin levels, and other hormones affecting fertility
  6. Ovarian Reserve Testing:
    • Measuring levels of AMH (Anti-Müllerian Hormone) to assess the quantity and quality of eggs remaining
  7. Genetic Testing:
    • Screening for genetic conditions that might affect fertility or pregnancy
  8. Endometrial Biopsy:
    • In select cases, a biopsy may be performed to evaluate the health of the uterine lining.
